You need JavaScript enabled to view it Dr. Narayan is regarded as a national and international leader in chronic diseases and in translational research. Prior to August 2006, he was Chief of the Diabetes Epidemiology and Statistics Branch at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and led a number of large US national epidemiological, health service research, intervention, and economic studies. Dr. Narayan was an intra-mural scholar at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) for four years with the Pima Indian Study of diabetes, where he completed the first diet-exercise intervention study in that population. He designed and led the TRIAD Study, a multi-site cohort study of diabetes quality of care and outcomes, and is a collaborator with the SEARCH Study, another multi-site study of diabetes in children.

He has served on the Executive and Investigators’ Committees of ACCORD, a multi-center RCT of cardiovascular disease prevention among people with diabetes, and is an investigator in the DPP (a multi-center RCT of lifestyle and metformin for diabetes prevention). He directs The Emory Global Diabetes Research Center.

He has over 12 years of research experience with interest in improving access and quality of care for chronic diseases using low cost solutions that rely upon mHealth technologies and electronic decision support tools. He is involved in the CARRS research platform, Simcard Trial, Solan Surveillance study, mPower Heart Project, mWellcare Trial and YogaCare Trial. He also looks after the research administration of CCDC and CARRS.

He is coordinating the trial which is to be conducted in 16 sites across India. He has also worked with different members of CCDC in conducting systematic reviews and meta-analysis.

She returned to India to pursue her postdoctoral studies at the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bangalore, where she investigated the synaptic mechanisms of an autism spectrum disorder called Fragile X Syndrome. Debarati is interested in designing and implementing interventions that address chronic disease co-morbidity and neuro-developmental disorders, particularly autism.

A neuroscientist by training, Dr. Supriya has worked on the genetic basis of autism and dementia during her tenure as research associate and INSPIRE Faculty at National Brain Research Centre, Manesar. She is working as a public health epidemiologist at PHFI with a keen interest in chronic disease epidemiology including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, physical activity, diet and nutrition. Dr. Agrawal is primarily responsible for epidemiological analysis and and statistical modeling of different national/international secondary data sets on topics relevant to chronic disease, besides writing grant proposals and attending and presenting significant research works on important public health related scientific meetings and conferences. An increasing focus of her research in recent years has been the interaction between food, nutrition, diet and health (both chronic and reproductive) in India and other low and middle income countries. Currently, her major projects include 1. Reproductive Health, Nutritional Status, and Macroeconomic Shocks: A Multi-Level, Quasi-Natural Experimental Analysis of Food Commodity Price Fluctuations (funded by ESRC-UK), 2. Pensions, health and wellbeing of older people in low and middle income countries. Insights from the WHO SAGE survey (funded by ESRC-UK), 3. Health and environmental implications of low-carbon, climate-change resilient diets in India (funded by Wellcome Trust). Others projects are based on analysis of secondary data sets such as Indian Migration Study, National Family Health Surveys, National Sample surveys, WHO Study on Ageing and Global Health, Andhra Pradesh Children and Parent Study, Chronic Disease Risk Factor Survey, on various topics relevant to Non-communicable epidemiology and public health importance.
