Strengthening Ecosystem for Sustainable and Inclusive Health Financing in India (SESSIHFI) PDF Print

About the Program

The USAID funded program “Strengthening Ecosystem for Sustainable and Inclusive Health Financing in India” is a unique program that seeks to produce evidence to inform policy and programs, build capacity in the area of health financing systems in India. The evidence generated from the exercise aim to facilitate provision of affordable quality health care, improve access and provide financial risk protection.

Key Goals

The health financing program uses globally recognised cutting-edge tools and techniques, brings together technical skill sets available from its consortium partners, aligns its program to the requirements of central and state governments in India. Through this program, we seek to generate critical evidence on the nature and quantum of financial flows, both public and private, to develop a better understanding of policy thrust areas for governments; on the processes and impacts of government-sponsored insurance schemes in select states to understand the effectiveness of risk pooling mechanisms; and on costing of essential health packages to facilitate implementation of Universal Health Coverage at sub-national level.
