Launch of India State-level Disease Burden Initiative PDF Print

The India State-level Disease Burden Initiative is a collaboration between the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), and Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, and experts and stakeholders associated with over 100 Indian institutions to produce the best possible state-level disease burden and risk factors trends utilizing all identifiable epidemiological data from India. This India State –level Disease Burden Initiative has fourteen domain expert groups that are closely involved with the estimation process and interpretation of findings.

The India State – level Disease Burden Initiative presents for the first time in India comprehensive and scientifically robust disease burden and risk factor estimates and trends for each state in India, 1990 onwards as part of the Global Burden of Disease Study, to inform improvements in health programmes and planning.
