|TB Week: Communication Campaign|
PHFI, with support from HT Parekh Foundation, in association with the Indian Medical Association, Meerut Branch and District Tuberculosis Unit, Meerut district has been implementing a pilot intervention on Tuberculosis prevention and awareness viz. Project CHETNA since April 2016.Project CHETNA focuses on enhancing private sector engagement through communication to improve case notification and treatment as per WHO/RNTCP Standards of TB Care in India (STCI) guidelines in Meerut city, Uttar Pradesh.
PHFI, with support frAs part of World TB day, a weeklong communication campaign from March 20th 2017 is underway which would be culminating on 24th March, World TB day with the prime objective of raising awareness on TB among the general population and TB infected persons.
The communication campaign aims to reach out to “One lakh voices against TB in Meerut.
PHFI, with support frTwo CHETNA” Raths” – one targeting the general population and the other targeting clinicians and pharmacistson Signature Campaign as well as e-rickshawswith branding would be traversing across Meerut city from 20-24th March, 2017 using a detailed route plan spreading messages on Tuberculosis prevention and awareness in slums, schools, collages, factories, madrassas, hospitals, bus stands, railway station etc. The CHETNARath for the general population is accompanied by a Nuked Natak team that who would be performing street plays on TB awareness. Besides, volunteers are involved in distribution of communication materials/handbills on TB in vernacular languages.
