Public Health Foundation of India being awarded the PHD Chamber Award for Excellence in Skill Development for the Year 2015
The capacity building initiatives of Centre for Chronic Conditions and Injuries (CCCI) directed by Dr. Sandeep Bhalla and team under the able leadership of Prof.D. Prabhakaran received the prestigious PHD Chamber Award for Excellence in Skill Development for the Year 2015. The distinguished Jury Chaired by Hon’ble Dr Justice A.S. Anand, Former Chief Justice of India with eminent jury members Shri. Sudarshan Agarwal, Former Governor of Uttarakhand and Sikkim; Shri. S. Y. Quraishi, Former Chief Election Commissioner took this final decision after intensive deliberations.
On behalf of PHFI, Prof.Srinath Reddy and Prof. Prabhakaran received the award from Hon’ble Union Minister of Home Affairs Shri Rajnath Singh on 28th November, 2015 at Le Meridien Hotel, New Delhi.
In a short span of 5 years, total of seven initiatives in capacity building of Primary Care Physicians were launched and a total of 13,000 PCPs have been trained so far in these programmes. These courses are aimed to enhance knowledge, skills and core competencies of Primary Care Physicians in various chronic conditions. Two of these programmes Certificate Course in Management of Evidence Based Diabetes Management (CCEBDM) and Certificate Course in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (CCGDM)has received IDF recognition and has been adapted by several State governments to train their Doctors.
