Short Course on Public Health Impact of Environmental Hazards and Pollution: monitoring and adaptation

Timing: 9.30 am to 5.30 pm, 7th to 11th December 2015

This is a short course training on environmental health, to be held at the Indian Institute of Public Health, Hyderabad./p>

Course Objectives:

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand risk and describe the pathways of environmental hazards and their impacts ? Describe the major sources of environmental pollution, understand principles of measurement and monitoring of pollutants
  • Comprehend environmental health inequalities that effect health outcomes and impact adaptation
  • Discuss effective ways of communicating about environmental health issues to the media and the community ? Develop the skills to conduct a health impact assessment

Target Audience

Health professionals, Public health practitioners, NGO staff, and representatives from Government (State Pollution Control Board and Environment Protection and Training Research Institute) etc. The participants will be limited to 20 – 25 participants.

Course fees:

There is no course fee, but out-of-town participants would have to bear their travel and stay expenses. We would be happy to suggest some options for stay, close to the institute. Lunch, tea and snacks would be provided during the course days.
