Promoting Adolescent Health in Low and Middle Income Countries PDF Print

Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is organizing a two-week course for Promoting Adolescent Health in Low and Middle Income Countries, during May 13 - 24, 2013.

Course Objective

The course aims to equip participants with the knowledge, conceptual frameworks and tools necessary to strengthen and develop their capacity for managing health sector policies and programmes for adolescent health and development.

Course Focus

The course will specifically focus on:

  • What is adolescence and special focus areas?
  • Frameworks for adolescent health and development
  • An understanding of processes of health promotion programme planning, design and implementation.
  • Addressing needs of adolescents
  • Integration of HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH)
  • Tackling prevention of risk factors related to Non-communicable diseases
  • Developing responsive and sensitive programmes to address the key public health challenges like, SRH, HIV/AIDS, substance use, violence, mental health, nutrition related problems etc. being faced by adolescents 
  • Adolescents specific policies and services
  • Surveillance and monitoring

Who should attend?

The course has been designed for health care service providers working at different levels (Central, State and district level officials), working in the areas of health and development in government sectors, public sectors, Non Government Organizations (NGOs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs), public private cooperation, academic institutes and other relevant sectors.

Eligibility Criteria

Acceptance on the course will be based on a completed application form submitted to the Public Health Foundation of India. Applicants should have a good command of English, as all teaching will be in English.

Course fee

A course fee of INR 40,000. This fee covers participation in the course and the course materials. This will be exclusive of travel cost, accommodation and meals.
