About IIPH-Bhubaneswar

Indian Institute of Public Health, Bhubaneswar is one of the four institutes set up by Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) as a part of its charter to build public health capacity in India. Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH), Bhubaneswar, commenced its academic activities from August, 2010. One of the key objectives of the Institute has been to implement the vision of the PHFI by linking public health advocacy, teaching, research and public health practice. The first programme was the Post Graduate Diploma course in Public Health Management, launched on 2nd August 2010. Government Doctors who participated were from Odisha and Chhattisgarh and some were self-sponsored candidates. In addition to this, various short term training programmes, workshops and research activities are being undertaken by the institute.

  • India's Public Health Challenges: Reconfiguring The Health System For Universal Health Coverage, January 5 (2pm and 4pm), 2012
  • Workshop on Research Methodology in Health Sciences. Participants were from medical colleges, health care organizations and Government departments of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. June, 2011

  • A two-day regional consultation on Strengthening Human Resources for Public Health in India. Senior health administrators and public health professionals, representatives of NGOs, academic institutes and international agencies from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka participated. May, 2011
  • Pre Conference on Continued Medical Education (CME) on Application of Meta-Analysis in Public Health was organised by IIPH-Bhubaneswar and Epidemiology subcommittee of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) during the annual conference of IAPSM at Berhampur, Odisha. Seventy delegates from all parts of India participated. February, 2011
  • A two-day workshop on use of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) in Public Health to evolve a ‘model of care’ enabled by technology was organized by IIPH-Bhubaneswar in collaboration with Intel, e-kutir and government of Odisha in Bhubaneswar. October, 2010

IIPHB is establishing important linkages with the largest residential tribal centre in Bhubaneshwar that is a part of Kalinga Institute of Social Study (KISS). It houses over 15,000 students from tribal districts of eastern India, starting from kindergarten (KG) to post-graduation (PG). These linkages will form a broad framework for CoE for Tribal Health and Universal Health Coverage.
