The Novel Influenza A(H1N1) flu is a respiratory illness caused by the type A flu (H1N1) virus. The current influenza pandemic (commonly known as Swine Flu) in countries around the world has been caused by a new version (strain) of the virus named as Pandemic (H1N1) 2009 by the World Health Organization (WHO). Transmission of this new virus is thought to occur in the same way as seasonal flu. The infection can be effectively treated with antiviral medication
For the average person, concerns on H1N1 revolve around his very existence and daily routine. How do I protect myself at home, in public places, at work, in school and how do I tell the difference between the familiar flu symptoms and the similar H1N1 symptoms? Where do I go for treatment and how do I know whether I will be a victim or survivor, are questions that most people want answered. Similarly health providers and businesses might have different questions like screening and isolation of cases, use of antivirals, workplace safety, emergency preparedness, etc.
