Understand the influenza. It
spreads mainly person to
person through coughing or
sneezing of infected people
   
Take actions to stay healthy
 
Cover nose and mouth
with a tissue when
coughing/ sneezing
Throw tissue in the trash
after using
Wash hands often with
soap and water, especially
after coughing/sneezing
Avoid touching eyes, nose
or mouth
   
Stay home if sick

India Situation
This section gives the latest situation of the H1N1 epidemic as of 20th November, 2009. It provides information on cases and deaths by state. Watch this space for updated information and data.

30 States/ UTs have reported cases due to novel Influenza A (H1N1); 5 states/ UTs have not reported any cases so far. These include Arunachal Pradesh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Lakshadweep, Sikkim and Tripura  
Over 94% of all cases reported so far are from nine states: Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh; Delhi has reported maximum number of cases (3915)  
99% cases are now indigenous cases; 1% are imported cases i.e. cases with history of travel to affected countries  
93% of all deaths have been reported from 7 states: Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Kerala and Delhi with Maharashtra reporting maximum number of deaths (214)  
As of weekending 15th November 2009, 79797 samples have been tested in labs for novel influenza A(H1N1). Of these, 15550 have tested positive.
