Dr. Saxena did his MD in Community Medicine, Government Medical College , and is enrolled for a PhD in Community Medicine at South Gujarat University. He has more than 10 years of experience in the field of public health. He had worked as Faculty in the Department of Community Medicine Government of Gujarat since April 1998 (as tutor) and then as Assistant Professor in the department from February 2006 onwards.
