About the Masters Studentships
The FFP studentship is designed to ensure that a candidate's full attention is devoted to developing their career. Each studentship broadly covers the following costs:
- Tuition fees
- Living expenses in UK, for course duration
- Return airfare
- Health Insurance
Who should apply?
We are looking for outstanding and highly motivated professionals with relevant experience, who are aspiring to build a career in public health. In 2010, PHFI is seeking to build its capacity in the following technical areas specifically:
1. Health Management (Public health management, health care administration, hospital management / administration, etc)
2. Biostatistics and data management
3. Clinical research (Pharmacology, Operations of clinical research, ethics)
4. Environmental and occupational health
5. Public health nutrition
6. Health economic, health financing, health insurance
7. Epidemiology
Further,
- Candidates must possess a post graduate degree from an accredited institution and strong relevant work experience.
- Candidates having PhD / (MBBS + MD / MS) or equivalent degree(s) in other relevant areas will be preferred.
How to apply?
Please send the following as one application packet containing:
- A cover letter stating (a) that you have applied for the Masters studentship, (b) the technical area where you wish to focus your MPH degree and (c) reasons to choose the same.
- A copy of your latest curriculum vitae.
- Compulsory Essays –
- Why should you be selected for the programme? [500 words or less]
- Public Health Challenges in India and how you will be able to contribute to the solution? [500 words or less]
These essays should persuasively establish (1) your preparation to undertake this intense course of study, (2) your understanding of the curriculum, and (3) a good fit between the curriculum and your interests and goals, and those of PHFI
- Three letters of recommendations, with one from your current direct supervisor
- Relevant documents (academic transcripts, certificates of work experience, etc)
- Valid score sheets in any relevant exams (IELTS) as may be required by the partner institutions. Please refer to the website of the partner institutions for further details on this.
Selection Process
All applications would be carefully screened by public health experts. Following this review, promising candidates would be invited for interviews. Interviews would be mandatory and by invitation only. After the interviews, candidates would be further short-listed and would be matched with appropriate UK partner institutions. The studentships would be awarded to the short-listed candidates securing an admission to the matching partner institution.
